Snow Patrol to play homecoming gig
County Down chart toppers Snow Patrol have announced they are to play a homecoming gig at the historic Ward Park in Bangor on September 1.
The band's current release ‘Signal Fire’, is the lead single on the soundtrack of 'Spiderman 3', and they have also received a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Song for the worldwide smash hit ‘Chasing Cars’.
Up to 25,000 fans are expected to attend the concert, and tickets will go on sale this Friday.
Last year, Snow Patrol played in Belfast’s Botanic Gardens at the Tennent’s ViTal event, which sold out.
The Patrol’s most recent album ‘Eyes Open’, recorded in 2005, was the fourth best selling British album in the US in 2006. They also supported U2 through Europe, appeared at Live 8 in Hyde Park and Scotland.
Downpatrick rockers Ash and New York alt-rockers We Are Scientists will also be providing support for the Ward Park concert.

Saturday 25 May was a night to remember for over 35,000 people who swarmed to Ward Park in Bangor to see Northern Irish rock band Snow Patrol. Ward Park 3 was nine years in the making and saw a line-up of local talent take to the stage including Two Door Cinema Club, Foy Vance and Ash, amongst others.
