Two arrests after campervan hijacking

Two men have been arrested as part of an inquiry into the hijacking of a campervan in County Louth.

The owners of the vehicle were attacked at the Carrickdale Hotel in Co Louth, when it crossed the border into the Irish Republic.

PSNI officers investigating the incident later found the campervan on fire over the border on Drumintee Road near Meigh.

When they were investigating the burning vehicle, a blue Volkswagen Passat car with two men on board failed to stop.

They managed to stop the car and recovered a number of items for further examination.

Police in Newry said that two men were taken into custody and are being questioned by detectives.
