Man doused in petrol during Belfast robbery

The manager of a west Belfast off-licence has been doused with petrol, punched and beaten with a gun during an armed robbery.

Two men, one armed with a handgun and another with a claw hammer entered the premises at the Springfield shop at 8:45 on Sunday morning.

They ordered the manager behind the counter and demanded he open two safes and a till. When he said he could not, he was hit with a gun, doused with petrol and threatened with being set on fire.

He then opened the safes and the men made off with an undisclosed sum of cash through the back of the shop.

They also took the shop's security camera and CCTV monitor.
