Anstey hammers IoM TT record
Flying Kiwi Bruce Anstey set new lap records on lap one and two of the four-lap Superstock event at the Isle Of Man TT.
He beat HM Plant Honda teammates John McGuinness and Ian Hutchinson into second and third.
Anstey was delighted with the result, saying it helped make up for some of the disappointment of having to retire from Monday's delayed Bennetts Superbike race - when he was forced out with mechanical problems just a short distance into the first lap.
Anstey set a new lap speed record of 128.40mph and shaved a minute off the lap time record on his Relentless Suzuki.
Morecambe's John McGuinness will be looking to add to his Superbike win, to take his tally of TT victories to 13, and Guy Martin will be on a charge on his Hydrex Honda after failing to finish the Superstock event.
The Poker Stars Supersport TT will be followed by the Bavaria Sidecar B race, where Dave Molyneux and Rick Long will be trying for a back-to-back win after taking Monday's delayed Bavaria Sidecar A win, and Isle of Man pairing Nick Crowe and Daniel Sayle will be looking to make up for retiring from the opening event.
However Tuesday's Superstock TT was marred when TT winner Shaun Harris was hospitalised after a high-speed crash.
The popular 41-year-old New Zealander came off his Suzuki in Union Mills during the four-lap race. He was taken to the intensive care unit in Noble's Hospital in Braddan where he is in a critical condition.
