Motorcyclist dies in road collision
A motorcyclist has died following a road traffic collision in Newry, County Down.
The accident occurred at around 9:45am this morning on the Newry bypass when the bike was in collision with a van.
The road is currently closed and motorists are being diverted through Newry city centre. A police spokesperson said drivers should expect delays.
Three motorists and a teenager were killed in three separate crashes over the weekend. The motorcyclist was the 47th person killed in a road accident so far this year.
The Northern Ireland Minister for the Environment Arlene Foster has promised to make road safety one of her main priorities.

A 21-year-old man has died in a road traffic collision near Gilford, Co Armagh. The man is understood to have died after his motorcycle collided with a tractor on the Ballymacanallen Road at around 1.25pm on Wednesday. An investigation has been launched and police have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.

A man who died in a road collision in Co Antrim has been named as Kamil Gervenka. The crash occurred on the Portglenone Road in Randalstown at around 12.15am on Sunday, 23 October. It is believed he was originally from Slovakia and worked in the area. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
