Three held over brutal murder
The devastated family of a father who was murdered in front of his children were waiting for the results of a post-mortem last night.
Jim McFadden, 42, from County Londonderry, was beaten to death at his home, in Moyola Drive, in the early hours of Saturday morning after returning from a wedding at which his wife Ita was bridesmaid.
Two men and a woman are still in police custody after being arrested in connection with the murder.
Mr McFadden's 15-year-old daughter suffered facial injuries and his son sustained a broken arm.
The family priest, Fr Eamon Graham, said that the circumstances of Mr McFadden's death were particularly hard for his family.
"It's obviously very difficult to lose a father and a husband, but for his children to witness such a brutal attack on their father makes it all the worse.Thankfully very few people have to go through seeing their father killed, particularly after the day started with a family wedding."
