Teenager dies after dinghy capsizes
A teenage boy has died after he and a friend got into difficulties in a dinghy off the north coast at Castlerock.
A major air and sea operation was mounted after Robert McMullan, 15, from Coleraine was swept out to sea on Tuesday afternoon at around 3:00pm.
He was airlifted to hospital, but died later.
His friend managed to swim to shore and raised the alarm, after the dinghy capsized.
Brett Cunningham of the Coastguard said two helicopters and lifeboats were involved in the search.
He said: “Two helicopters and lifeboats from both sides of the Irish border had been involved in an intensive search.
“The PSNI helicopter located the boy in the water and guided the Irish Coastguard helicopter and Greencastle lifeboat over to pick him up.
“He was then lifted from the lifeboat into the Irish coastguard helicopter and taken to hospital.”

Fishermen Rescued By Helicopter
The coastguard has rescued seven men after their fishing boat ran into trouble off the North Coast. Two lifeboats and the Irish Coastguard helicopter joined the Mulroy Coatguard cliff and rescue team to perform the rescue operation at 3.30am on Tuesday.

Local RNLI lifeboats rescue 260 during summer 2004
Emergency search and rescue statistics published today by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) show that despite the wet summer, 2004 saw more than 260 people rescued at sea by volunteer lifeboat crews in Northern Ireland waters.

Storms Stop Searches For Missing Man
Searches for a man swept out to sea at Ramore Head in Portrush on Saturday have been hampered by poor weather conditions. A search by the police and coastguard did resume on Sunday morning, but strong winds made conditions too dangerous to continuing searching. It is understood the missing man is 38-years-old and is a Polish national.

RNLI Rescues Yacht After Crew Fall Ill On Journey To Belfast
The RNLI's Red Bay lifeboats were launched early this morning when a yacht travelling to Belfast got into difficulty when its crew fell ill. The 28ft yacht was on passage from Oban in Scotland and experienced challenging sea conditions, causing the five-person crew to be unable to safely command the vessel.

Major Search Operation To Resume For Missing Light Aircraft
A major search operation is to resume after a light aircraft went missing leaving the City of Derry airport. The microlight aircraft, which was carrying two passengers, is understood to have been bound for Scotland. The aircraft was reported overdue at 8.30pm on Thursday, 09 June.
