Car hijacked in Belfast city centre

Police are appealing for information following a hijacking incident close to Belfast city centre yesterday evening.

Two males, both thought to be aged 18, approached the female driver of a silver Renault Megane car at the lights of the York Road and Frederick Street junction at around 9:00pm.

One of the males indicated he was looking for a light. It is understood the woman shook her head to indicate no, whilst trying to lock her doors.

However, one of the men pointed a small black handgun and ordered her out of the car. They then drove off in the vehicle.

Police are asking for any information on the incident to contact them.
