Police appeal following robbery in Portadown

Police are appealing for information following a robbery shortly before 8pm last night in Portadown, Co Armagh.

A woman was walking home from the town centre when a youth approached her at the junction of Church Street and Ormonde Street and attempted to grab her shoulder bag. When she resisted, a second youth produced a knife and threatened her. The two youths then made off on foot with the bag.

One of the robbers was described as being 5’3 to 5’4, stocky and between13 to 15 years of age. He was wearing a navy blue bomber jacket with a white stripe on the sleeve and a black woollen hat. The second youth is described as being 5’7, slim and aged around 16 to 17 year of age. He was wearing a cream bomber jacket and a black woollen hat. He had blonde or blonde streaked hair.

Police are appealing to anyone who can help identify the robbers or who may have seen two youths answering this description in the area of Church Street or Ormonde Street in Portadown at around the time of the attack.

Woman Dies In Garage Fire At Portadown Home
A woman has died after a fire in the garage of a house in Portadown, County Armagh. The fire at Oakleigh Park, off the Brownstown Road, was reported to police shortly after 07:20 GMT on Monday. Police and firefighters are still at the scene and are investigating the cause of the fire. The woman's name has not yet been released.

Man Charged Following Drugs Find
A man has been charged after police seized drugs, worth a street value of between £50,000-£75,000, in Co L'Derry. Cannabis plants and herbal cannabis were discovered during search in the High Street area in Draperstown on Wednesday. A 35-year-old man has been charged with possession and cultivation of class B drugs with intent to supply.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.
