Dermot Ahern to deliver peace lecture
Dermot Ahern, the Republic of Ireland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, is to deliver the Tip O’Neill peace lecture at the University of Ulster’s Magee campus tonight.
The Tip O’Neill Chair, funded by the Ireland Funds, commemorates the former Speaker of the US House of Representatives, who was well known for his support of the peace process in Northern Ireland.
Among others to have delivered lectures in the series are former US President Bill Clinton, Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, President of the European Commission Romano Prodi, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, former Taoiseach Garret FitzGerald, US Senator John Kerry and Irish President Mary McAleese.
Nobel Laureate Professor John Hume is currently the holder of the Tip O’Neill Chair in Peace Studies at the University of Ulster.

Peace People Return To Belfast
A veteran of many 'peace' rallies in the 1970s - Mairead Corrigan Maguire - one of the original anti-NI Troubles 'Peace People', has addressed a large Belfast crowd to condemn the actions of the Israeli government in Gaza. She was speaking at the weekend when the City Hall demonstration was held against the Israeli attack on the Gaza area.

QUB To Honour Former US President
Queen's University Belfast is to name a building after former American President, Bill Clinton. Mr Clinton said he is honoured by the move. The university said it wanted to mark his contribution to the Northern Ireland peace process. It is understood the new leadership institute will be called the William J.

Former US President Bill Clinton has called on the people of Northern Ireland to continue to cast their vote for peace. Mr Clinton made his speech during a visit to Londonderry to inaugurate former SDLP leader John Hume in his tenure of the Tip O'Neill Chair in Peace Studies at the University of Ulster.
