Hendersons are winners of ARENA Award
Leading convenience wholesale company, John Henderson Ltd, has been awarded with the ARENA Network Environmental Award for their contribution of the recovering and recycling of waste and the overall management of energy.
The group, owners of the SPAR, VG and VIVO franchises in Northern Ireland took part in survey, which is the fifth annual Environmental Management Survey of the top companies and local authorities in Northern Ireland.
Commenting on the success, Raymond Coulter, Facilities Manager at John Henderson Limited, said: “By being awarded with the first quintile reflects our success in applying good environmental business practices in the workplace. At Hendersons, we are confident that we can maintain our environmental performance, as we appreciate the importance of showing responsibility for the environment in which we live.”
The group was invited to complete a self-assessment questionnaire, which was divided into two main sections – the first relating to environmental management and the second focused on how participants measure their performance.
Each of the 200 companies and 26 local authorities that took part in the survey were measured by performance in Quintiles. John Henderson Ltd was awarded the first quintile, for the second consecutive year.
The survey was devised to put environmental issues on to the Board agenda of the largest organisations in Northern Ireland and to measure the extent to which these organisations are managing environmental issues.
