14-year-old accused released on bail

A 14-year-old youth accused of attempted murder has been released on bail.

The boy who is from Londonderry was charged in connection with an attack in Dunmurry last week.

The High Court today heard a gang attacked a man with a range of weapons, including a machete, knives, bats and an axe, after breaking into his house.

A Crown lawyer told the court the victim's son, who suffers from muscular dystrophy, and was in a wheelchair, was pushed to the ground.

It was alleged the victim was dragged outside the house and beaten and kicked by the gang.

The youth was released on £800 bail and told to report to police three times a week.

He has also been banned from the Lisburn and Belfast areas.
