Police investigate shooting in Ardoyne

A number of shots have been fired at a house in north Belfast last night.

Arlene McAlea has told reporters she was lucky her children were not at home at the time of the attack.

Her son, 9 and five-year-old daughter had been staying at their grandmother’s house when around 10 shots were fired at their home at Jamaica Court in Ardoyne at around 2.50am.

Three men are believed to be involved in the attack, and police have said a shotgun and a rifle were used.

A number of windows at the front of the house were damaged and the young boys bedroom window was shattered.

Detectives have said one of the men involved is approximately 5ft 9ins tall and was wearing a dark navy hooded top with denim jeans.

Another man was 5ft 6ins tall and was wearing a dark hooded top with a white scarf and gloves.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them on the Antrim Road station on 0845 600 8000 or call the Crimestoppers line confidentially on 0800 555 111.
