Murder hunt underway following pensioner’s death

Police have launched a murder hunt following the death of a 92-year-old man in east Belfast.

The body of Charles Steed was found at his home in Canberra Park in Dundonald on Monday.

Detectives are treating the death as suspicious after they received the results of his post mortem on Thursday.

It is believed he died from severe head injuries.

His body had been discovered in the back bedroom of his house when neighbours noticed his milk had not been brought in.

Lead investigating officer Jeff Smyth said: "There is no sign of a struggle in Charlie Steed's house.

"There is no sign of a break-in at the house, which in itself is suspicious to the police service."

The PSNI have asked for anyone with information to contact them immediately.
