Police appeal for information on robbery
Police in Castlereagh are appealing for information regarding a robbery in the Newtown Park area at 8.40pm last night.
Two men, one armed with what appeared to be a hand-gun and the other with a sledgehammer, entered a convenience store and forced staff to hand over money.
The men escaped with an undisclosed sum of cash.
The first thief is described as being in his 30’s. He was wearing a green hooded jacket with a grey hooded top worn underneath, with the hood pulled over his head. He was also wearing black gloves, and blue jeans.
The second thief is also believed to be in his 30’s. He is around 5ft 6ins to 5ft 7ins tall. He wore a black top, dark shoes and a balaclava.
He also spoke with a broad Belfast accent.
PSNI are asking any witnesses to contact them at Castlereagh, on 0845 600 8000 or contact the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.

A bus driver has spent the night in hospital after being pistol-whipped by two masked youths during a robbery in north Belfast yesterday. At around 3.30pm, two youths boarded the bus as it let passengers off on the Old Park Road.

Man Attacked In Sectarian Hate Crime In Newtownabbey
A man has been injured in what has been described as a sectarian hate crime in Newtownabbey. The victim was slashed across the face and stomach with an unidentified sharp object in the Shore Road area at around 7.25am on Monday, 06 August. He received treatment for his injuries however they are not believed to be life-threatening.
