Man doused in petrol during robbery

Police in County Londonderry have appealed for information following an incident yesterday afternoon, during which a man had petrol poured over him during an armed robbery at his home.

The incident happened at around 3pm, when two men, one of who was armed with a handgun broke into a house in the Ballygroobey Road area of Moneymore.

The assailants demanded that the man hand over money, before hitting him across the face, and dousing him in petrol.

They then took the man into the bathroom where they soaked him with bathwater before tying him up and making of with bank cards, three firearms, a quantity of ammunition, a gold watch and some foreign currency.

One of the men is described as being around 5' 10" in height, the other was around 6 feet tall. They both had shaven heads and were wearing dark suits.

They are understood to have made their escape in a silver coloured vehicle.
