Body of 'beaten and mutilated' pet Boxer found
Police in County Antrim are appealing for information after the mutilated body of a pet dog was discovered on Monday night.
The three-year-old Boxer, named Brannigan had been missing from his home in Carnlough for over a week, before his mutilated body was discovered in a field close to the village on Monday evening.
A post-mortem examination revealed that the animal had been brutally beaten, its throat cut and a front leg had been hacked off during a horrific attack.
A spokesperson for the Ulster Society For Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals (USPCA) warned that the killers could strike again. He said that there were a lot of families with pets in the village now worried about their safety and added that until people come forward with information on the perpetrators, no reassurance can be given.
The USPCA spokesperson added that they could think of no reason as to why the attack was carried out.
Brannigan's owners have offered a reward of £500 for any information which could lead to those responsible being caught and prosecuted.
