Kidnap suspects remanded after being recaptured
Two men who went on the run after being charge with kidnapping a renegade republican, have appeared in court in Belfast today after being recaptured by police.
Gerard McCrory, 34, from Dermott Hill Road, Belfast, and Thomas Tolan, 35, from Ballymurphy Parade, Belfast, abducted Bobby Tohill from a bar in the Castle Street area of Belfast in 2004.
Mr Tohill was bundled in to the back of a van by four men and after the incident was captured on a security video, police intervened and the van was stopped after colliding with a PSNI vehicle in the nearby Millfield area.
All four of the men were taken to court last year, however they were released on bail after pleading guilty to the charge of kidnapping. On release they all absconded.
Mr Tolan and Mr McCrory were were arrested on the A1 in Hillsborough yesterday and appeared before Belfast Crown Court this morning.
Harry Fitzsimons, 37, from the Spamount Street area of Belfast and Liam Rainey, 33, from New Barnsley Crescent, still remain at large.
Mr Tolan and Mr McCrory were remanded in custody and are due to be sentenced on February 2.

Northern Ireland's latest occurrence of a so-called 'Tiger Kidnap' has now seen the appearance of a 39-year-old man in court. Stephen Paul McStravick from Vianstown Park in Downpatrick was charged with kidnapping Emma Crane and her four-year-old son Matthew.

Man Seriously Attacked In South Belfast
Police are appealing for information after a man was seriously attacked in south Belfast. The assault occurred at a property in the Wauchope Court area on New Year's Eve. The man, aged in his 20s, is being treated in hospital. Detectives are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Police Appeal After 'Shot Fired' In North Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after reports of a shot being fired in north Belfast. No-one is believed to have been injured in the incident in the Farringdon Court area on Thursday. Police are keen to establish what happened and are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Cash Kidnap Gang Fail In Robbery Bid
A member of staff at a Co Antrim cash handling facility has been left unhurt but badly traumatised after he and his wife were kidnapped by a gang from their home on Monday. The PSNI said that armed and masked men entered their house on the Drumaghlis Road in Crossgar between 7.30 and 8.

Kidnap Pair Sentenced For Boots Robbery
A daring, "highly organised and sophisticated" kidnapping plot that netted £150,000 was recalled this week in a Belfast court. Jailing two Belfast men for a total of 16 years for their part in the crime, the judge said the robbery of the city centre Boots store in May 2005 "took meticulous preparation".
