New diversions in place for Westlink
The Department of Regional Development has today released information on new diversions which are to be set in place during the duration of the roadworks at the Westlink.
Bridge beams for the new city-bound bridge at Stockman’s Lane, Belfast, are due to be erected next week and will cause an overnight closure.
Part of Stockman's Lane roundabout will be closed on Tuesday January 9 from 8pm - 6am.
Traffic from the South and from Kennedy Way that wish to go towards Stockman's Lane will be diverted onto the M1 city-bound to Broadway Roundabout, around the roundabout and back onto M1 country-bound to exit at Stockman's Lane.
Traffic from Kennedy Way wishing to go south on the M1 will also be diverted to along the motorway to Broadway where they can join the south bound carriageway.
Diversion signs will be in place.
Attention is again drawn to the 30mph speed limit through the works from Stockman's Lane to Divis Street. This speed limit is necessary because of the changing road lay-outs and narrow lanes within the works. The PSNI have advised that they are actively enforcing this speed limit and motorists who break the speed limit risk being prosecuted.
Access to the Royal Group of Hospitals (RGH) will not be affected.
