Pair arrested over pharmacy robbery

A 23-year-old man is due to appear in Belfast Magistrates Court later today charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition in suspicious circumstances.

A second man, who was also arrested in connection with armed robbery, has been released pending further inquiries.

The arrests followed a planned police operation yesterday evening, during which officers recovered two imitation firearms and ammunition after carrying out searches at a number of properties in the south Belfast area.

The arrests are understood to be connected to two robberies of a pharmacy in the Donegal Road area of the city in November.
