Man charged over east Belfast assault
A 29-year-old man has been charged in connection with an assault on two men in County Antrim yesterday evening.
The pair, who are aged in their 60s, were walking along the Sandown Road area of east Belfast just after midnight, when they were approached by a man.
The attacker then proceeded to attack the men, beating them with a plastic pipe.
The victims were taken to hospital, however their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
The accused is charged with disorderly behaviour, assault on police, resisting arrest, possession of an offensive weapon and two counts of assault, occasioning actual bodily harm.
He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Two charged as arms haul uncovered in west Belfast
Two men have been charged by police after an arms haul was uncovered in west Belfast. The discovery, which is being linked to the Continuity IRA, saw three vehicles, an AK47 assault rifle and five real and replica handguns seized by police following eight house searches over the past few days.

A Belfast man has been remanded in custody following a weapons and ammunition find in north Belfast on Wednesday. James Samuel Armstrong, 25, of Wilton Street close to the Shankill Road, is charged with having an AK-47 assault rifle, a Browning pistol and ammunition in suspicious circumstances.

Man Charged Over North Belfast Assault
A man has been charged over an assault in north Belfast on New Year's Day. The 29-year-old has been charged over causing grievous bodily harm with intent and having an offensive weapon. The 24-year-old victim was found with slash marks on his face in the Glencairn Way area. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Guns stolen in Co Antrim assault
Police are appealing for information after a gang assaulted a man and stole his guns in Co Antrim. The masked men forced their way into the man's home in Burnbrae in Bushmills at around 1.30am on Tuesday morning. They hit the man before tying his hands behind his back and escaping with three guns.
