Real IRA suspect faces explosion charges

A suspected republican terrorist is expected to appear in court today charged with conspiracy to cause an explosion.

The charge against the 24-year-old man is believed to relate to an explosion at Stewartstown police station in July 2000.

No-one was injured in the 250lb car bomb blast which damaged businesses and homes in the surrounding area.

The man also faces charges of being a member of dissident republican group, the Real IRA.

Ardoyne man appears in court on Real IRA charges
A man has appeared in court charged with membership of dissident republican organisation, the Real IRA. David White (39) appeared at Belfast Magistrates Court charged with four offences, which included conspiracy to cause an explosion, possession of an explosive substance with intent to endanger life, and making an explosive device.

Three people have been arrested following the discovery of a viable device on St Patrick's Day in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh. A 42-year-old man was arrested in Irvinestown and a 27-year-old man and 29-year-old woman were detained in Castlederg.

Armagh man to face 61 Omagh bomb charges
A 35-year-old Co Armagh man is to face 61 new charges linked to the 1998 Omagh bombing in which 29 people were killed. Sean Gerard Hoey, from Jonesborough, appeared before court in Craigavon on Thursday to hear that he will face the new charges as well as 29 counts of murder next week.

Controlled explosion carried out at office of Republican SF
A suspect device has been found outside the offices of Republican Sinn Fein in west Belfast today. Army bomb experts carried out a controlled explosion on the device which contained an explosive substance attached to an alarm clock. A member of staff found the device as they opened up the premises on the Falls Road this morning.

Dublin bomb linked to Continuity IRA
Gardai are linking the discovery of a bomb in a car on the Dublin M50 motorway to the Continuity IRA. The device was discovered when a vehicle was stopped and searched by police near to the West Link Toll Plaza at 10pm on Thursday evening. The driver apparently jumped out of the car and told Gardai that there was a primed bomb in the vehicle.
