Cash in transit van robbed in Lisburn

Police in Lisburn have appealed for information following the robbery of a cash in transit van earlier today.

The incident happened at around 10am, when an employee, who was making a delivery to a premises in the Laurelglen area of the Stewartstown Road, was approached by a man who proceeded to hit him over the head with what is believed to have been a hammer.

The robber then made off with the cash box in the direction of the Stewartstown Road.

The thief is described as being around 5' 6" in height, of stocky build, with sandy coloured hair, stubble and a goatee beard.

He was wearing blue denim jeans and trainers.

Detectives in Lisburn have asked for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have any information in connection with it, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number 0800 555 111.
