Security alert in County Tyrone ends
A security alert in County Tyrone has ended.
A blast bomb type device was discovered in the front garden of a house in the
Strahulter Road area of Newtownstewart after searches by PSNI officers.
Army Technical Officers were tasked to the scene and a controlled explosion was carried out on the device.
The area was sealed off while the operation took place, however the road has since been reopened.
A spokesperson for the PSNI said that the device had the potential to cause “death, injury or damage” and condemned “the recklessness of those who carried out the attack.”

A 51-year-old has been fined for bonfire-related waste offences at Newtownards Magistrates' Court. Gareth Gill, of Abbot's Walk, Newtownards pleaded guilty to waste offences relating to a bonfire next to the electrical sub-station on the Circular Road in the town.

Arms and ammunition found in Co Antrim
A cache of arms and ammunition has been found by police in Co Antrim over the weekend. A shotgun and handgun were among the items which were found close to the Ballycraigy Road in Glengormley. Elsewhere, a bomb has been defused during a security alert in Co Londonderry.

An explosive device found during a security alert in west Belfast was "designed to kill or seriously injure police officers", according to the PSNI. The alert, which has now ended, was on the Brians Well road area in Poleglass on Saturday, 14 January.

A controlled explosion has been carried out on a suspicious object that was thrown into the rear yard of a house in L'Derry. The incident occurred in Ebrington street at around 12.10am on Friday. A controlled explosion was carried out on the viable pipe bomb shortly after 5.30am.
