Pensioner robbed by gang in County Armagh

Police in County Armagh have appealed for information following an aggravated burglary yesterday evening.

Shortly before 9pm, four men forced their way through the back window of the home of an 83-year-old man in the Bellevue Terrace area of Richhill.

The gang assaulted the pensioner and while one of them held him to the ground, the others ransacked his house.

The robbers then made off with a substantial sum of money.

The pensioner was not injured during the incident, however was left badly shaken by the ordeal.

Police have asked for anyone who may have witnessed the attack, or anyone with any information in connection with it, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

County Armagh pensioner robbed in his home
Police in County Armagh have appealed for information following a burglary at the home of a pensioner on Thursday evening. A man aged in his 80's was at his home in the Ennis Close area of Lurgan, when three men broke into the property. The thieves ransacked the house, before making off with an undisclosed sum of money.

Police in County Armagh have appealed for information following the robbery of a pensioner in his home yesterday evening. The incident happened at around 6.30pm, when two men called to the home of an 85-year-old man in the Loughgall Road area of Portadown.

Almost £10m Awarded In Rates Assistance
Almost £10 million has been awarded in rates assistance in the past year, the Department of Finance has reported. Around 30,000 pensioners have benefited from a 20% reduction in their rates through the Lone Pensioner Allowance while 11,300 properties have been awarded a 25% reduction in their rates through the Disabled Persons Allowance.

Search Continues For Missing Pensioner John Concannon
Gardai and the police are continuing to search for missing pensioner John Concannon. Mr Concannon, 71, who has been missing for a week, was last seen on the Lenamore Road in L'Derry at around 7pm on Tuesday 10 November. Searches are continuing in the area and by Gardaí across the border.

Millions In Rates' Relief Aids Pensioners
Pensioners have been boosted with news that millions of pounds in rates' assistance has been provided to lone pensioners in Northern Ireland. Stormont Finance Minister Sammy Wilson has welcomed the take up of almost £13.5m of assistance to pay rates by single pensioners.
