Security alert in County Down

There is a security alert in County Down.

Army Technical Officers were tasked to the scene at the B&Q store on the Armagh Road in Newry, shortly after 2pm today, after receiving reports of a suspicious device being discovered.

As a precautionary measure, police have asked all keyholders in the Newry area to check their premises.

Meanwhile, a bomb alert in the Dover Street area of north Belfast has ended.

A number of houses were evacuated earlier today after a suspicious package was discovered.

Army bomb experts were tasked to the scene, however the device was later declared a hoax.

Homes in Omagh were evacuated in a security alert earlier today, Wednesday 31 October, after the discovery of a suspicious object. Police attended the scene on the Riverview Road, which was closed to traffic for some time. The object was found not to pose a threat and the road has since reopened for use.

Pair Charged Over Co Armagh Security Alert
A man and woman are due in court over a security alert in Tandragee, Co Armagh. The blast bomb device was made safe after it was discovered during a police search in Woodview Park on Saturday 30 November. A 20 year-old woman and a 21 year-old man have been charged to appear before Newry Magistrates' Court tomorrow, Monday 02 December.

Security Alert Launched In Co Tyrone
The PSNI have launched a security alert in Dungannon, Co Tyrone. A suspicious object was discovered in the Fairmount Park area on Wednesday, 17 January. The road has been closed and a number of residents have been evacuated from their homes. No further information has been released.

Two Suspicious Objects Removed During Belfast Security Alert
Two suspicious objects have been removed for further examination after sparking a security alert in south Belfast. A number of houses were evacuated following the discovery in Ulidia House on the Donegall Road on the evening of Thursday 15 November. The area was sealed off while Army Bomb Experts carried out forensic examinations.

Hoax Objects Found In Carrickfergus Alert
Two suspicious objects found during a security alert in Carrickfergus, County Antrim, have been declared elaborate hoaxes according to police. The security alert began on Sunday afternoon in the Broadlands Gardens area of the town, when several homes were evacuated.
