Accused man claimed he 'did not mean to kill wife'

The court heard that when charged yesterday 46-year-old Adrian Baird of Loughloughlan Road in Broughshane said that he "did not mean to kill his wife".
It is understood that Mr Baird had voluntarily surrendered himself to police in Ballymena following the shooting of Katrina Baird at a Georgian mansion in Broughshane where she was working as a childminder.
The body of the 40-year-old mother of three was found in the yard of the house on the Buckna Road on Monday.
Mr Baird, who is understood to be an armourer with the PSNI, was remanded in custody until March 6.
