County Down man given 12-year sentence
A County Down man was today given a 12-year jail sentence at Downpatrick Magistrates Court after he was found guilty of stabbing two teenagers.
Paul Stephen Bustard, 34, from Donard Avenue in Newtownards, was found guilty of stabbing a 17-year-old girl and her 19-year-old boyfriend, after luring them to a flat in Bangor in June this year.
The Judge, Mr Justice Hart, described the incident as a "a prolonged and terrifying attack".
Today's court heard how Bustard threatened to kill the pair, during an ordeal which lasted almost two hours.
The girl managed to escape, which led to Bustard's arrest.

Man Found Dead In Banbridge Named
A man found dead in Banbridge, Co Down, has been named as Richard Gerard Scullion. A murder investigation has launched after his body was found at a house in the Millmount court area on Monday, 09 July. A 28-year-old man arrested on Monday remains in police custody after the PSNI were granted an extension.

Omagh bomb investigators arrest three men
Three men have been arrested in the Republic of Ireland in connection with the Omagh bombing in 1998. One man in his 20s and another in his 30s were arrested in Monaghan on Sunday morning and a third man in 30s was arrested in Co Louth on Monday morning. The three men were taken to Carrickmacross Garda station to be questioned.

Priest found guilty of facilitating child sex offence
A County Fermanagh priest has been found guilty of facilitating a child sex offence against a 12-year-old girl. The jury at Liverpool Crown Court heard Father Jeremiah McGrath, 63, from Rosslea gave more than £20,000 to convicted child rapist William Adams. He then spent the money grooming the girl from Liverpool.

All-Ireland GAA star found guilty of assault
All-Ireland Gaelic football player James McCartan, 33, from Banbridge in Co Down has been found guilty of assault. The incident happened during a game between Down and Westmeath in May 2003. Westmeath player Kenny Larkin suffered a broken jaw during the incident.
