Minister surveys construction of Holy Cross College

Education Minister, Maria Eagle, has today visited the construction site of the new school at Holy Cross College in Strabane.

The £29 million project will provide modern accommodation for the school, which was formed following the amalgamation of St Colman’s High School, Our Lady of Mercy Secondary School and Strabane Convent Grammar.

Speaking during her visit, the Maria Eagle said: “This building work illustrates Government’s commitment to providing our school children with suitable, modern accommodation. Providing such purpose built facilities will help pupils learn in an environment where they can make the most of the educational opportunities available to them.”

The accommodation is being built under a Public Private Partnership procurement with Belfast Educational Services North West, who will also maintain the building for the next 25 years.

The Minister continued: “This is an exciting time for everyone associated with Holy Cross College and this new accommodation will help the staff build on their work to ensure that all students here achieve their full potential.”
