Belfast to Manchester flights to commence in May

Bmibaby, the low cost arm of bmi, has confirmed that it will be introducing flights from Belfast International Airport to Manchester from May 1.

The airline is set to offer three return flights a day connecting Northern Ireland with the Northwest of England and the UK's second biggest airport.

Belfast International has been served by bmibaby - the UK's second largest low cost airline - since last October, when low cost flights to both Cardiff and East Midlands were launched. The addition of the Manchester route now means that bmibaby will operate a total of 12 flights a day in and out of the International Airport.

Tony Davis Managing Director of bmibaby said: "We are extremely pleased with the success that we have enjoyed on services to and from Belfast international Airport. This has given us the confidence to serve even more destinations.

"Manchester is a key destination for both business and leisure travellers and we will be ensuring that a wide range of low cost fares will be on offer. Consolidation of the low cost market means that bmibaby is now the UK's second largest low cost carrier and the travelling public in Northern Ireland are benefiting from this growth and success."

bmi join British Airways in providing flights from Belfast to Manchester – with BA currently operating services from Belfast City.
