Man questioned over Ballymena murder
A 49-year-old man is being questioned by police in County Antrim in connection with the murder of 24-year-old Shirley Finlay in September.
The man, is understood to have already been in custody under an unrelated charge, and earlier today detectives in Ballymena made an appeal to Ballymena Magistrates Court to have him transferred into their custody.
The man has since been taken to the serious crime suite in Antrim for questioning in connection with the murder.
Shirley Finlay, from Crebilly Road, Ballymena, was found wrapped in a duvet in a car park in the Mount Street of the town on September 19. She had been strangled.

Family appeal over Shirley's murder
The family of 24-year-old Shirley Finlay, who was murdered in County Antrim two weeks ago, has today appealed for help from the public in finding the person responsible for her death. Man Released On Bail Over Lurgan Murder
A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Police investigating the murder of Ballymena woman Shirley Finlay, have today reissued their appeal for information. The 24-year-old woman’s body was discovered in a car park in the Mount Street area of Ballymena town centre on September 19. She had been strangled.

A man accused of a Co Antrim murder 14 years ago has been in court. William Mawhinney, 49, was charged with the murder of Lorraine Mills at her home in Staffa Drive, Ballymena, in 1995. He was heavily guarded for his two-minute appearance at Ballymena Magistrates Court (pictured) during which the charge was read.
