Firework pushed through letterbox in Antrim

Police in Antrim are appealing for witnesses after a firework was thrown through the letterbox of a house at Tobergill Gardens in the town at around 10pm on Monday.

It is understood that the occupants were Polish.

Police say they are investigating a possible racial motive.

Damage was caused to the letterbox but no one was injured.

Police have appealed for anyone with information on the attack to contact 0845 600 8000, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police are appealing for information after a number of laptops were stolen from a school in Co Antrim. The incident is believed to have happened overnight in the Rathcoole Drive area of Newtownabbey. Police received a report on Tuesday, 12 January, after staff noticed the laptops had gone missing.

Police at Antrim are appealing for information following a petrol bomb attack at a house in the town early this morning. The incident at Norfolk Square in the Stiles Estate happened shortly before 2am when damage was caused to discarded items at the front of the house.

Man questioned about 1988 murder
A man has been arrested in connection with police inquiries into a murder in 1988. The body of Lily Smyth, 66, was found in her flat at Moveen House in Dunmurry on October 9, 1988. The pensioner had been strangled. A police spokesperson said that a 43-year-old man had been arrested and is being questioned at Antrim Police Station.
