Pedestrian killed on Westlink

A pedestrian was killed on the Westlink at around 1.30am on Thursday morning.

The Westlink, which was closed for approximately six hours, has now been reopened.

The man's name has not yet been released.

Elsewhere, four people have been injured following a collision on the M1 which involved two lorries and a car. There are no further details regarding injuries in the crash.

Due to the incident the motorway was closed in both directions between Belfast and the Saintfield Road junction at Lisburn.

Man Killed In Co Tyrone Crash
A male pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in Cookstown, Co Tyrone. The incident occurred on the Lissan Road just before midnight on Monday. The man was struck by a red Mercedes. The road was closed, however, it has since been reopened. Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Westlink Closed Due To Pipe Bomb
The Westlink and part of the M1 motorway have been closed after a pipe bomb was discovered at Broadway roundabout on Thursday morning. Army bomb squad officers are at the scene and motorists have been warned to expect major traffic disruptions.

Pedestrian Killed In South Belfast Road Crash
A male pedestrian has died in a serious road traffic collision in south Belfast. The man was hit by a car on the Saintfield Road in the Carryduff area at around 1.45pm on Thursday, 31 August. The Saintfield Road at the junction with the Baronscourt Road was closed for some time, however it has now been reopened.
