RICS chief to visit NI

The international head of one of the world’s leading professional organisations will visit Derry this week to meet the Mayor and to address a gathering of its local members.

Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) global chief executive, Louis Armstrong, will meet Mayor, Cllr Kathleen McCloskey, whilst on a visit to the northwest. The visit is part of a two-day stay in Northern Ireland.

Mr Armstrong will also address up to 50 local RICS members in the council offices, in what RICS NI Director Ian Murray said this was a great boost for the local membership.

“It is a real privilege to have the chief executive of the RICS come to Northern Ireland and to pay a visit to the north west. The RICS has 110,000 members in over 120 countries and is the world’s leading professional body. This visit to Northern Ireland and to Derry is testament to the high esteem in which the global organisation holds its Northern Ireland members,” Mr Murray said.

“The response to the visit here has been excellent and we anticipate a first-rate turnout in Derry. As an organisation we have over 1,800 members throughout Northern Ireland and our chief executive has been very keen to get out and to meet as many of them as possible,” he added.

The Mayor, Cllr. McCloskey, said she was delighted the RICS Chief Executive was taking time out of his busy schedule to visit the North West: “This is a great opportunity for Council officers and members to meet with the Chief Executive of this leading professional body to discuss all aspects relating to land, property, construction and the associated environmental issues.”
