Christmas line-up announced for Ulster Hall

Two extremely different Irish music legends are to provide the highlights of a packed Christmas season programme at Belfast’s historic Ulster Hall.

Dickie Rock will turn back the years with two concerts of traditional Christmas favourites, while a special tribute to the late Rory Gallagher will round off the year in rousing fashion.

Presented by Celebrate Belfast, the ‘Christmas Singalong’ will take place at the Ulster Hall on consecutive Thursdays (December 14 and 21).

Dickie Rock will present a collection of Christmas favourites, such as ‘Silent Night’, ‘The Holy City’ and lots of Christmas carols, as well as a selection of his own hits, including ‘Candy Store’, ‘Every Step Of The Way’ and many more.

Dickie will be joined for this pair of special concerts by Jamie Rock, The Leading Ladies and Orchestral Musicians of Northern Ireland, conducted by John Phelan, with comedian Gene Fitzpatrick as compère for both shows.

Tickets cost just £3 and are available from the Ulster Hall box office in Bedford Street.

On Friday December 29, rockers from across the island of Ireland, and beyond, will be digging out their checked shirts and old denim jackets, as Belfast City Council presents a unique tribute to one of the greatest blues guitarists of the modern era, Rory Gallagher.

The packed programme will include the unveiling of a memorial plaque by Donal Gallagher (Rory’s brother) and a rock school, as well as performances by The Pat McManus Band and top tribute act, Sinnerboy.

There will also be a screening of Rory’s legendary 1984 Ulster Hall concert and an exhibition of Rory Gallagher memorabilia in 'The Group.'

Tickets for this special tribute cost £10 and are available from the Ulster Hall box office.

Full details of both promotions, and all other Ulster Hall events, are available on line at www.ulsterhall.co.uk
