Three to appear in court on terrorist charges

Three people are to appear at Enniskillen Magistrates Court today in connection with an arms find in Co Fermanagh last Thursday.

One of the three, a 50-year-old man, has been charged with conspiracy to cause an explosion, possession of items likely to be of use to terrorists, possession of explosives, possession of firearms and ammunition and membership of a proscribed organisation, namely the Continuity IRA.

A 46-year-old woman has been charged with conspiracy to cause an explosion and possession of items likely to be of use to terrorists.

In addition, a 26-year-old man has been charged with membership of the CIRA, conspiracy to cause an explosion and possession of items likely to be of use to terrorists.

Police recovered three handguns, a quantity of ammunition, a timer power unit and a number of component parts to devices at Lettergreen Road, Donagh, outside Rosslea.

Duo plead guilty to explosive charges
Two men have pleaded guilty today of plotting to cause explosions in London and Birmingham in 2001. Thirty-year-old James McCormack and 19-year-old John Hannan, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to causing explosions between 1 January and 15 November 2001.

L'Derry Man Sentenced Over Mortars Transportation
A man from L'Derry has been sentenced to twelve years in prison after being caught driving a van containing mortars through the city last year. 37-year-old Seamus McLaughlin of Eastway Gardens admitted possession of explosives with intent to endanger life and having articles for terrorist purposes.
