Armed robbery in Newtownabbey

Police in Newtownabbey have appealed for information following an armed robbery earlier today.

The incident happened at around 9.30am this morning, when a security guard making a delivery to a bank in the Abbott's Cross area of the town, was approached by a man armed with a knife.

A struggle ensued, and the robber made off with the cash box, in a white coloured Rover car in the direction of Belfast.

The security guard was uninjured during the attack, however was left badly shaken by the ordeal.

Anyone who may have witnessed the attack, or who may have any information in connection with it, are asked to contact police in Newtownabbey on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

Newtownabbey robberies may be linked
Police in Newtownabbey have appealed for information on two armed robberies in the town. The first incident happened at around 9.45pm yesterday, when two males, armed with a handgun, entered a supermarket in Abbot's Cross on the Dough Road. The robbers threatened staff before making off on foot, with an undisclosed sum of money from the till.

Armed men rob security guard
Detectives in Newtownabbey are appealing for information following an armed robbery on Monday. Shortly after 2pm, two men approached a security guard in the Mill Road area, threatened him with a handgun, and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Body of man found on outskirts of Belfast
The body of a man has been found at a flat in the outskirts of Belfast, it has emerged today. The discovery of the 47-year-old's body was made at the flat in the Rathcoole estate, Newtownabbey, shortly after 9pm on Thursday. The police and ambulance service were immediately called to the scene, however it is not yet known how the man died.

Security guard threatened in armed robbery
Detectives are appealing for information following an armed robbery outside a bank in Crumlin, Co Antrim on Monday. At around 2.30pm a man, armed with a gun, approached a security guard as he was making a delivery to a bank at Main Street.
