Police appeal after robbery at builder's yard

Industrial equipment valued at over £14,500 was stolen yesterday during a robbery at a contractor's premises in Co Antrim.

At around 3.25pm, a man in his mid-20's, armed with a handgun, entered the Ballyclare Road premises in Glengormley and attacked a 46-year-old security guard.

The guard was left shocked and badly shaken after he was punched in the head and threatened at gunpoint.

The guard was then forced out into the yard whilst items were removed from the building.

The gunman is described as 5ft 3in tall, of medium to stocky build, with a full round face and wearing a green Parka-style jacket. He was accompanied by a second man who was about 6ft tall and wearing a multicoloured hat, a black zipped up jacket and a grey woollen jumper.

Amongst the items taken were jackhammers, rock hammers, a sthil saw, a trailer and a track motor from a three-tonne digger.
