Three men injured in separate paramilitary-style attacks

Three men have been involved in separate paramilitary style attacks last night.

In Co Down a man was shot in the lower leg in the Abbot Drive area of Newtownards.

Strangford Ulster Unionist assembly member Tom Hamilton condemned the shooting in Newtownards. He said: “This type of activity is repugnant and serves no purpose other than to inflict pain and distress. People who engage in this type of practice are living in the dark ages of an era the vast majority of right-thinking people have spurned."

Mr Hamilton appealed for anyone with information on the incident to come forward to the police.

Meanwhile, a man was treated for gun shot wounds to his elbows and ankles after being shot in the Creggan area of Crossmaglen.

Elsewhere, in Belfast a 19-year-old was beaten around the legs and head at a house in the north of the city. Four masked men entered the house in the UDA stronghold of Rathcoole and proceeded to beat the teenager with baseball bats.
