Ex-soldier released after questioning

An ex-soldier who was being questioned over the murder of a baby girl in County Down 40-years-ago, has been released.

Police in Belfast have today confirmed that the man, aged in his 60's, was released pending a report being sent to the Public Prosecution Service.

The arrest relates to an incident at Ballykinlar Army Camp in 1966, when nine-month-old Linda Cochrane, was killed.

The man was arrested in Staffordshire by PSNI officers, assisted by the local police, on Wednesday.

Police arrest man in connection with Lisa murder
Police have arrested a man in connection with the killing of Bangor woman Lisa Dorrian. The 18-year-old man was arrested in the Greater Belfast area on Tuesday morning, detectives have confirmed. Three men have already questioned about the killing but were later released.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.
