Tourist rush anticipated as new hotel is planned for seaside town
A new four-star hotel is planned for Portrush in County Antrim and will replace one of the town's famed landmarks.
The new Cloughorr House hotel is to be built on the site of the Golf Links Hotel - which also houses clubbing hotspot Kelly's Lush nightclub - at a cost of £3 million.
The nine acre site will provide a 120 bedroom hotel with spa, creche, leisure complex and 25 residential apartments.
Managing Director Peter Wilson commented: "The good news for the local community is the new hotel complex will provide employment of upwards of 100 staff."
News reports suggest that demolition work will begin on the hotel and club within three years.
It is thought that the complex will add to the current tourist and leisure revival being enjoyed by the town.
