Twinbrook fire "malicious"

Police in west Belfast have appealed for information following a malicious fire in which a number of houses were damaged.

The blaze is understood to have been started in a dog kennel at the rear of a house in the Summerhill Road area of Twinbrook at around 11.45pm.

The fire then spread to a nearby oil tank, then to neighbouring houses.

Homes in the area were evacuated, however three houses sustained severe damage during the incident.

There have been no reports of any injuries.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the cause of the fire and have asked for anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity at the rear of the house, or who may have any information in relation to it, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

Police in County Londonderry have appealed for information after a number of houses were damaged by arsonists in the early hours of this morning. Three houses were damaged and telephone lines melted during two separate arson attacks in the Shantallow area.

Residents evacuated after toxic fire
Hundreds of people have spent the night away from their homes following a toxic fire at a warehouse in Coleraine, County Londonderry. Around 600 houses in the area were evacuated last night while up to 80 firefighters tackled the blaze at a warehouse containing chemicals at Armstrong Medical in Wattstown Business Park last night.

Two Homes Damaged In South Belfast Blaze
Two homes have been damaged in a blaze in south Belfast. The fire is believed to have broke out in the attic of a property on the Upper Lisburn Road just after 11.15am on Wednesday. The fire also spread to the house next door.
