RIR soldier receives bravery award
A Belfast soldier serving with the Royal Irish Regiment (RIR), has received an honour for his bravery in Iraq.
Lance Corporal Trevor Coult, 31, who was involved in an ambush by suicide bombers in Baghdad last year, was awarded the Military Cross for recognition of his bravery.
The Military Cross is the third highest bravery honour, after the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross and the Victoria Cross.
Lance Corporal Coult was serving with his regiment in the Helmand province of Afghanistan, where two RIR soldiers have been killed in the past week.

Ballymena Medic To Receive Military Cross
A British Army medic from Ballymena, Co Antrim, has become only the fourth woman in history to be awarded the Military Cross after she put herself in "mortal danger" to treat a wounded Afghan soldier. Lance Corporal Kylie Watson, 24, (pictured) has been hailed a "heroine" and a "shining example of what it is to be a soldier", by her local MP.

Sunblest bakery smashes current ‘hot cross’ record
Sunblest bakers at Allied Bakeries Ireland in Belfast have been recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records for baking the world’s largest ever hot cross bun. The bakery, which produces over 1.8 million Sunblest Hot Cross buns per year, has put the icing on the cake by entering its name into the record books.

Queen awards gallantry cross to RIR
The Queen has awarded the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross to the Royal Irish Regiment during a ceremony in Belfast earlier today. The parade, which was held at the Balmoral Showgrounds in south Belfast was to mark the final review of the home battalions of the Royal Irish Regiment.

Special honour announced for former UDR and RIR members
Defence Minister Adam Ingram has today announced that the service of the UDR and Royal Irish Regiment is to be formally recognised. The announcement came during Mr Ingram's visit to Drumaad Barracks in Armagh, where he met with RIR soldiers affected by the disbandment of the home service units.
