RIR soldier receives bravery award

A Belfast soldier serving with the Royal Irish Regiment (RIR), has received an honour for his bravery in Iraq.

Lance Corporal Trevor Coult, 31, who was involved in an ambush by suicide bombers in Baghdad last year, was awarded the Military Cross for recognition of his bravery.

The Military Cross is the third highest bravery honour, after the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross and the Victoria Cross.

Lance Corporal Coult was serving with his regiment in the Helmand province of Afghanistan, where two RIR soldiers have been killed in the past week.
