Pensioner robbed in County Armagh
Police in County Armagh have appealed for information following the robbery of a pensioner yesterday afternoon.
At around 1pm, a bogus caller, claiming to be from social services, called to the home of an 81-year-old woman in the Edenderry area of Portadown.
The man then entered the pensioner's house uninvited and began rummaging through her belongings before making off with an undisclosed sum of money.
The woman was uninjured in the incident, although she was left badly shaken by her ordeal.
The thief is described as being aged between 20 and 30 years old, around 5'3" in height, of medium build, with a round face and bald head.
Police have warned residents, especially the elderly, to be wary of bogus callers and to always to check the credentials of callers.
They have also said that suspicious callers should always be reported to police.
Anyone with any information on the robbery are asked to contact detectives on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

Police investigate bogus caller robbery
Police are investigating a robbery in the Hillsborough Drive area of east Belfast. A male called at a house shortly after 5pm on Wednesday evening, claiming to be from the Housing Executive. The man, who was not carrying identification, said a letter would have been previously sent to notify the homeowner of the visit.

Burglars ransack pensioner's south Belfast home
There has been another incidence of a pensioner being targeted by thieves in Belfast yesterday. The elderly lady's home in Kimberly Street, south Belfast, was burgled sometime between 10am and 4pm yesterday when she was out. A number of items were taken, which have been described by the victim as of great sentimental value, including jewellery.

Security Alert Finds Nothing At MLA's Home
A security alert at the North Antrim home of Sinn Féin MLA Daithí McKay has ended without incident. Police were called to the home following a report that a bomb had been left at the house. It is understood an anonymous caller telephoned the MLA's office in Dunloy claiming that an explosive device had been planted.

Army Remove Device In Banbridge GAA Alert
A 'viable' pipe bomb has been found at a GAA ground in County Down. The bomb was found during an overnight alert at the ground on the Ballela Road outside Banbridge. Police have since described the device as "viable" and it has now been removed by the Army Technical Officers.

Bogus Caller Tells Pensioner He Was Sent By A Priest
A bogus caller attempted to enter the home of a 90-year-old man by pretending he was sent by a priest to give him a blessing. The incident happened on Monday in a rural development outside Lurgan. The man's 87-year-old brother was also in the house at the time.
