Serpico's 'ScriptMap' provides automated software testing

The Belfast based company Serpico Software have recently developed 'ScriptMap' - a new range of software testing tools that they hope will open up a market for the product worldwide.

As a result of this expansion the company expects to employ an additional 21 staff over the next three years.

Supported by Invest NI the company spent three years developing the core technology needed to make the automated testing of software more efficient and cost effective, eventually reaching their goal of increasing test productivity by up to 40%.

Serpico Software’s Managing Director Robbie McConnell explains the objective of the product: “Traditional testing tools require a fairly high level of programming expertise to use, are time intensive and have major maintenance issues, ScriptMap technology delivers functional testing with context. This unique ability to recognise where in an application you are testing, leads to measurable productivity gains and ensures the software will operate as predicted.

“Overall, with ScriptMap, we offer Siebel implementers the ability to deliver more reliable and higher quality software solutions.”

The investment support Serpico received helps bridge the revenue gap between the development stage and the launch of the product to the market, while providing leverage for other venture capital.

Kevin McCann, Director of Enterprise Support in Invest NI commented how Invest NI was keen to assist “knowledge based industries” and to support companies in bringing new products to market. He said Serpico Software had developed an innovative product with “significant potential for export sales" and could create quality jobs, and that the product itself would add to the reputation of Northern Ireland as a “centre of excellence” in software development.

Serpico Software has recently become an accredited partner with US company Siebel Systems Inc, a leading provider of e-business CRM applications software. Serpico is hoping the partnership agreement will result a growth within the company enabling it to market their product to implementers of Siebel CRM software throughout the world.
