Couple left shaken after County Down hijacking
A man and a woman have been left badly shaken following a hijacking in County Down at the weekend.
The incident happened at around 12.20am on Saturday morning, when a couple in a car in the Benish Viewpoint car park in Newry, were approached by two masked men.
The men, who were armed with a hammer smashed a side window of the vehicle and dragged the male driver out.
One of the attackers held a knife to the man's throat and demanded that he hand over money.
They then forced the woman out of the passenger seat and pushed her to the ground before making off with her handbag.
The robbers escaped in a silver coloured Volkwagen car.
The driver sustained a minor injury to his arm, and both were left badly shaken by their ordeal.
Police have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who may have any information in relation to the attack contact detectives on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
