Armed robbery of Belfast building society

Police have appealed for information following the armed robbery of a building society in Belfast city centre yesterday afternoon.

At around 4.30pm, a man armed with a handgun, entered the premises in the Royal Avenue area of the city and threatened staff demanding that they hand over money.

The robber then made off with an undisclosed sum of cash in a white coloured shopping bag, in the direction of Castle Court shopping centre.

He is described as being aged in his early 30s, around 5'6 in height, of slim build and with short dark brown hair.

He is thought to have spoken with a southern Irish accent, and was wearing dark blue jeans, and a brown coat with a green collar, bearing a darker brown stripe across the chest.

Police Seek Woman For Armed Robbery
The PSNI have appealed for information over an alleged armed robbery of a man in Belfast city centre. Police are investigating reports that a woman dressed in a "distinctive cow print onesie" robbed a man at gunpoint on Great Victoria Street at about 3am on Thursday. It is believed that the suspect fled the scene in a blue Volkswagen Golf.
