NI GCSE results released today
Around 25,000 Northern Ireland students have received their GCSE results.
Although the local examination results were released today, the overall statistics will not be released until Thursday, when the English and Welsh boards release their results to students including those in Northern Ireland.
However, the majority of GSCE results were issued in the province today as most students take GCSE examinations with the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA).
A new study has revealed that over 30% of students will opt to remain in full-time education due to the £30-per-week Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA), which the government offers to subsidise eligible students.
The allowance was set up in 2004 for around 10,000 students and around 15,000 pupils are expected to receive it this year.
The EMA was originally introduced to encourage people from low income families to stay in school.
