Police appeal for missing persons

Police in Belfast are appealing for assistance in locating a missing Asian woman who has not been seen since Friday.

Tahira Saddique, 31, originally from Bradford in England, was last seen leaving Windsor House at Belfast City Hospital on Friday evening. She is described as “vulnerable” and suffers from medical problems and requires regular medication. It is understood that she was planning to go to the Shankhill area of the city. Tahira is described as being around 5' 7" in height, of slim build, with brown eyes, long straight dark hair, and was wearing bright pink pink traditional Indian dress, and speaks with an English accent.

Meanwhile, detectives in Londonderry are becoming increasingly worried about the welfare of a missing teenager.

Ryan Harkin, 14, went missing from an address in the Glenbank Gardens area of the city on Saturday August 12. He is described as being around 4' 3" in height, of slim build, with brown eyes, short brown hair and a tanned complexion. He was wearing navy tracksuit bottoms, a navy and white hooded top, and an Ireland football shirt.

He was briefly spotted by police in the Springtown Road area of the city just before 11pm on Saturday evening, however ran off before officers could make contact.

Anyone who may have information on the whereabouts of either Tahira or Ryan, should contact police on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

Missing Man Found 'Safe And Well'
Missing man Declan Mawhinney has been found safe and well, according to the police. Mr Mawhinney, 46, went missing from Letterkenny on Saturday at approximately 11.40pm. A missing person appeal was launched by the police and his family. He was located in Letterkenny on Tuesday. Police thank the public for their assistance.

More Than 50 Officers Disciplined Over Failings In Missing Persons Cases
Over 50 police officers have been disciplined over failings in missing persons investigations in Northern Ireland. The Police Ombudsman found some PSNI officers failed to assess missing person reports, as well as failures in supervision, failures in searches and missed evidential opportunities.
