Holywood pensioner robbed

A pensioner has been mugged in Holywood as he walked through an underpass.

The 80-year-old man was left shocked after he was knocked to the ground and had his wallet stolen in the Strand Avenue area of Holywood.

The incident occurred at around 6pm on Thursday evening and a police spokesperson said that the victim was assisted two women who were in the area at the time. It is believed that two men were also in the area at the time.

Police have appealed for these for people to contact them.

Hundreds Of BHS Jobs Lost
It is understood around 200 jobs are to go at four BHS department stores in Northern Ireland. The stores are located in Belfast, Holywood, Lisburn and Newtownabbey. On Thursday, it was announced that the retailer is to go into liquidation after efforts to find a buyer for the store failed. In total, up to 11,000 jobs will be lost across the UK.

A 34-year-old man has been injured during an armed robbery in his east Belfast home yesterday evening. A gang of three men entered the house in the Motelands area, off the Old Holywood Road, shortly before 8.30pm.

B&Q open 100th UK Warehouse in Belfast
DIY giants, B&Q has officially opened its 100th UK Warehouse in Belfast, which has created 215 new jobs. B&Q Warehouse, Holywood Exchange is the retailer's eighth store in Northern Ireland, which will bring the total number of B&Q staff in Northern Ireland to 1,000.

'No Evidence' Of Shots Fired At House In L'Derry
Police have said there was "no evidence" of shots being fired at a house in L'Derry. The incident happened in the Cornshell Fields area shortly after 11pm on Monday, 27 February. A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police have carried out a number of enquiries and there is no evidence to suggest that shots were fired.

Man Attacked And Woman Threatened In East Belfast
Two men, one believed to be armed with a gun, have attacked another man and threatened a woman in east Belfast. The incident happened at a house in the Holywood Road area at around 7.20pm on Thursday. Two men went to the door of the property and assaulted a man in his 20s and threatened a woman in her 30s.
